Dosage

If your doctor wants to start you on Bezalip, then you should take just one tablet every day. Make sure you swallow your tablet whole, ensuring that you take it with plenty of water (or another fluid). It should not be chewed, crushed, or split.

Bezalip is best taken with food or after eating your meal. Note that the doctor has the mandate to change your dose as they see fit.

Once they do so, make sure you follow their instructions fully. They will normally consider things like your body weight, the medical conditions you have and any other medicines you are on when prescribing Bezalip.

Side Effects

Just like other medicines used to treat high cholesterol and triglycerides levels, Bezalip can cause side effects. Some of these side effects are mild and the most common and bearable. They include the following:

• Stomach pain
• Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Headache
• Nausea
• Skin rash.

Try to cope with some of these side effects and call your doctor if they persist. Also, if you notice some other side effects that you cannot tolerate even a little, call your doctor.

Severe side effects include: dizziness, muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, severe upper abdominal pain, liver issues and decreased urine production. Don’t take Bezalip anymore if you notice skin peeling or blistering or if your tongue, throat or face begins to swell.

Precautions

If your doctor has asked you to take Bezalip, make sure you don’t start before being sure it is totally safe to take. So, discuss with them about your health issues:

• Allergies to bezafibrate, other ingredients of Bezalip or other fibrate drugs
• Health issues that are being treated with a statin medicine, including simvastatin, lovastatin and so on
• If your risk for muscle issues is high. Those in danger are people who have undergone surgery, are severely sick or have reduced kidney function
• Have type I hyperlipoproteinemia
• Suffer from a gallbladder disease
• You have reduced kidney function, reduced liver function or primary biliary cirrhosis
• You have ever developed a fibrate allergic reaction of the skin

If you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breast feeding, don’t take Bezalip without the permission of your doctor.
