The medication Famvir belongs to a class of medicines known as anti-viral medications and is used to treat a number of viral infections such as herpes zoster and genital herpes. It acts by stopping the virus from multiplying and reproducing. It does not stop the virus from spreading herpes to another person. You should swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not chew them.
