Advair Inhaler (Fluticasone/Salmeterol) Product Information
Advair Inhaler is a long acting beta agonist (LABA) that helps control wheezing and shortness of breath. It is prescribed to reduce asthma attacks, however, it will not do anything for an active attack.
Inflammation could be caused by a number of conditions, and this asthma medication can be used to reduce the inflammation in the airways. Salmeterol is a bronchodilator, and is used to make breathing easier and reduce asthma attacks, also, it can stop COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) from getting worse. Fluticasone, a corticosteroid, helps reduce the inflammation and airway swelling.
Advair Inhaler Directions
The typical dose is two inhalations twice a day. Once taken you need to rinse your mouth out with water to lower the chances of contracting oral thrush. It is not recommended that a higher dose is taken, as salmeterol can worsen conditions, so if this happens between doses, do not continue use, instead use a beta-2-agonist.
For patient's over 12 years of age inhalations should be taken twice a day and you must make sure that they are 12 hours apart. The severity of the condition, previous treatments and how the patient is dealing with the condition will be considered for the beginning dose. When using an inhaler for the first time, there should be 4 sprays made to prime the inhaler. You should shake the inhaler before each spray and spray away from the face. If there is a time when the inhaler is not used, go through this process again. After using the medication for a week, relief should be achieved within 30 minutes, but if this does not happen and a further week passes, a higher strength should be tried.
Side Effects
To avoid side effects, make sure that the medication is used in the way that it was prescribed.
To make sure that there are no problems, both will have to be checked regularly. Don’t take more than the recommended dose, and don’t continue use when you have been advised to stop. If you miss a dose, don’t try and catch up, but wait until the next one is due.
Precautions
