The irritation or inflammation of the nasal tissues causes nasal congestion. Colds, flu, sinusitis, allergies, and hay fever cause congestion in the nose. The active ingredient in Dristan Nasal Spray is Oxymetazoline hydrochloride. Oxymetazoline belongs to a class of medications called nasal decongestants. It narrows the blood vessels in the nasal passages to relieve congestion and make breathing easier through the nose.

We currently offer the brand Dristan Nasal Spray from Canada manufactured by Pfizer in the strength of 0.05%/30 ml nasal spray solution. Unfortunately, the generic Oxymetazoline hydrochloride is not available.
Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Dristan Nasal Spray. The most common side effects of Dristan Nasal Spray may include the following:
• Dryness in the nose;
• Mild stinging or burning in the nose;
• Runny nose;
• Sneezing
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, including:
• Dizziness;
• Fast/pounding heartbeat;
• Headache;
• Mood changes;
• Nausea;
• Sleeping difficulties;
• Unusual sweating;
• Unusual weakness;
• Worsening symptoms

Customer Precautions
You should not use Dristan Nasal Spray if you are allergic to oxymetazoline hydrochloride or any ingredient in Dristan Nasal Spray. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctors about your medical history, especially if you:

• Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant;
• Have a thyroid disorder;
• Have an enlarged prostate or urination problems;
• Have diabetes;

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Dristan Nasal Spray and other medicines, including amitriptyline, ergotamine, linezolid, doxepin, and imipramine. Children may be more sensitive to the side effects of this medication. Contact your doctor to know if the nasal spray is safe for children below 6 years old. Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant. Oxymetazoline hydrochloride can be used in pregnancy if used as recommended. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. It is not known if Oxymetazoline hydrochloride passes into breast milk. Dristan Nasal Spray is used for temporary relief. Do not use this medication for more than 3 days. Using Oxymetazoline hydrochloride too often or longer than recommended can make nasal congestion reoccur or worsen. Use Dristan Nasal Spray precisely as prescribed by your doctor. Use in your nose only. Do not take the drug by mouth. Blow your nose before use. Do not tilt your head back when using Dristan Nasal Spray. Always put the cap back on the medication after using a dose. Do not store the drug in a bathroom. Store at room temperature in a dry place.
