It also helps treat skin allergies with itching, redness, or swelling. The active substance in Allegra is Fexofenadine. Fexofenadine belongs to the class of drugs called selective histamine H1 - receptor antagonist. It works by blocking a certain natural substance (histamine) that your body makes during an allergic reaction. Thus, it helps relieve symptoms of allergic conditions.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Allegra 180 include headache, drowsiness, dizziness, and nausea (feeling sick). Most of these are temporary and usually resolved with time. Please consult your doctor if any of these side effects do not resolve or persist for a longer duration.

Do not take with fruit juices (such as apple, grapefruit, or orange) since they may decrease the absorption of this drug. Do not take antacids containing aluminium and magnesium within 2 hours of taking this medication. These antacids can decrease the absorption of Fexofenadine. • Heart disease, since this kind of medicine may lead to a fast or irregular heartbeat are elderly;
• kidney problems or trouble in urinating;
• Liver problems

Do not take the Fexofenadine tablet if you are pregnant unless it is necessary. Fexofenadine tablets are not recommended during breastfeeding.
