Product Details

Bezalip (Bezafibrate) is a prescription medication that is used for the treatment of high cholesterol. This medication is used in combination with diet and exercise. Bezafibrate works by decrease high levels of “bad” cholesterol and other fats (triglycerides) in the blood and at the same time increases the “good” cholesterol in the blood. It helps to decrease the chances of heart disease, stroke and other illnesses by balancing out the “good” and “bad” cholesterol. The recommended daily dose is 400mg sustained release tablets.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common Bezalip side effects may include dizziness, gas, headache, itchy skin, stomach pain, upset stomach. The serious side effects may include:
• Changes in vision;
• Difficulty sleeping;
• Feeling dizzy, drowsy or tired;
• Feeling weak or pain in the muscles;
• Headache;
• Impotence in men;
• Problems with the gallbladder;
• Problems with the kidney

You should not take Bezalip SR if you are allergic to Bezafibrate or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, you should inform your doctor about your medical conditions and about all the medications you are currently taking including OTC and herbal medications. Bezafibrate should not be taken during pregnancy. If you are trying to get pregnant, you should stop this medication several months before trying to become pregnant. You should not take this medication if you are breastfeeding a baby. There may be an interaction between Bezafibrate and other medications such as Colestipol, Cyclosporine, Estrogens, Insulin, MAO inhibitors, Warfarin, etc.
