Indications

Angeliq is a female hormone medication used to treat menopause symptoms including hot flashes and vaginal dryness, burning, and irritation.

The medication combines two female hormones: drospirenone, a progestin, and estradiol, an estrogen, to help regulate and maintain the female reproductive system. The estrogen/progestin mixture allows Angeliq to help balance missing levels of hormones to reduce symptoms of menopause.

Dosage and Administration

The dose of Angeliq that is prescribed will vary depending on the individual and severity of menopause symptoms being treated. Follow all your healthcare provider’s instructions and read packaging labels carefully to ensure the best results during treatment.

  • Swallow tablets whole
  • Take at the same time each day with or without food
  • To treat vasomotor menopause symptoms, most patients start by taking 0.25mg drospirenone/0.5mg estradiol or 0.5/1mg once daily
  • To treat vulvar and vaginal atrophy, patients usually take 0.5/1mg once a day
  • Doses may be increased until relief from symptoms is achieved
  • Those who are not taking estrogen can start treatment any time
  • Patients taking hormone therapy, whether continuous or cyclic, should complete their current cycle before starting treatment with Angeliq
  • Treatment may need to temporarily stop if you need a major surgery, tell your surgeons and healthcare providers you take Angeliq
  • Self-examine your breasts for lumps and have regular mammograms during treatment
  • Store at room temperature away from children and pets
