Biacna topical gel (Clindamycin Phosphate/Tretinoin) is a topical prescription medication used to treat severe acne in adults and children over the age of 12. Biacna gel contains two medications, clindamycin and tretinoin. Clindamycin is an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria that causes acne. Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A that reduces the amount of oil released by oil glands in your skin, helping your skin renew itself more quickly. The combination gel works by killing bacteria that cause acne and by peeling off skin cells. It may take several weeks to months before you see and improvement in your acne. Use Biacna exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use this medication in larger or smaller amounts, or for longer than recommended. Using more medication or applying it more often than prescribed will not make it work faster, and may increase side effects. Call your doctor if skin irritation becomes severe or if your acne does not improve after several weeks of using this medication.
