Product Details

Jentadueto (Linagliptin/Metformin) is a combination medication of linagliptin and metformin used to treat type II diabetes. Both medications are oral diabetes drugs that help control blood sugar levels in the body. Metformin decreases glucose production in the liver and decreases its absorption in the intestines, while linagliptin regulates insulin production.

Common side effects may include sore throat, sinus pain, stuffy nose, and diarrhea. The serious side effects may include:

• Feeling cold
• Feeling dizzy, light-headed, tired, or weak
• Signs of allergic reaction:
o Difficulty breathing
o Hives
o Severe skin reaction
o Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
• Slow or irregular heartbeats
• Stomach pain
• Trouble breathing
• Unusual muscle pain
• Vomiting

You should not use Jentadueto if you are allergic to Linagliptin/Metformin, or if you have severe kidney disease or diabetic ketoacidosis. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. Follow any instructions your doctor gives you if you are pregnant or nursing while on this medication. Blood sugar control is important for all trimesters of pregnancy. This medication is not approved for anyone younger than 18.

Precautions

Follow your doctor’s advice and follow all medication guidelines for your medication. Use it exactly as prescribed. Take it twice daily with meals, unless you are told to do something different by your doctor. Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

There may be an interaction between Jentadueto and other medications, including other oral diabetes medications and more. This is not a complete list. 1. Are there any additional risks I need to be aware of when I take Jentadueto?
Answer: People with other medical conditions, or those with a severe infection, chronic alcoholism, or older than 65 may be at risk of developing lactic acidosis – a dangerous build-up of lactic acid in the blood. Talk to your doctor about the risk.

2. I have a surgery coming up. Do I need to let them know I take Jentadueto?
Answer: Yes, it would be wise to let your surgery team know. If your surgery requires any type of x-ray or CT scan that uses a dye injected into your veins, you may need to temporarily stop taking Jentadueto.

3. What happens if I accidently overdose on Jentadueto?
Answer: If you suspect an overdose of Jentadueto, seek immediate medical attention. Signs of overdose include extreme weakness, nausea, tremors, sweating, confusion, trouble speaking, fast heartbeats, or seizures.)
