Mydfrin (Phenylephrine Hydrochloride) is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels in the eye. It’s used to relieve eye redness, dryness, burning, and irritation caused by the wind, sun, or other environmental irritants. It can also be sued to dilate the pupil for those with glaucoma, before eye surgery, and before eye exams. The usual recommended start dose is 2.5%/5ml eyedrops.

Stop taking Mydfrin and call your doctor at once if you have one of these serious side effects:
• Anxiety;
• Buzzing in your ears;
• Chest pain, pressure, or pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder
• Fast or irregular heart rate;
• Lightheadedness;
• Pale skin;
• Severe headache;
• Shortness of breath;
• Sweating;
• Tremors
Less serious side effects of Phenylephrine Hydrochloride may be more likely, and you may have none at all.

Mydfrin should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. Talk to your doctor about your medical history to be sure you can safely take Mydfrin. Particularly if you have a history of high blood pressure, any type of heart condition, coronary artery disease, asthma, or sulfite allergy, and more. You should not take Mydfrin if you are allergic to Phenylephrine Hydrochloride or if you have an eye infection, an eye injury, or if you have recently had eye surgery. You should not use Mydfrin if you have narrow-angle glaucoma. It is not known whether or not this medication will harm an unborn or nursing infant. You shouldn’t take Mydfrin while pregnant or nursing without discussing the risks with your doctor. There may be an interaction between Mydfrin and other medications, some of which include: MAO inhibitors, some over the counter medications, and herbal products. Talk to your doctor about any medications or herbal supplements you are currently taking.
