Glyxambi Information

Do you need to fill a prescription for Glyxambi or any another RX or OTC medication? We carry a variety of medications here at Canada Pharmacy Online at affordable prices. We currently have brand name Glyxambi from Boehringer Ingelheim, dispensed out of Canada. The generic name for the active ingredient in Glyxambi is Empagliflozin/Linagliptin, but we do not carry a generic equivalent at this tie. Our brand name Glyxambi comes in a 25mg/5mg dosage.

Product Details

Glyxambi is a combination medication used to regulate insulin levels for people with diabetes. It contains empagliflozin, which helps the kidneys remove glucose from the bloodstream, and linagliptin, which regulates the amount of insulin the body produces after eating. Glyxambi can also be used to lower the risk of death from heart attack, stroke, or heart failure with patients who have both type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

The common side effects of Glyxambi includes: sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, and sinus pain.

The more serious side effects may include:

• Bladder infection
• Dehydration
• Ketoacidosis
• Low blood sugar
• Pancreatitis
• Serious genital infection
• Serious skin reaction
• Severe, ongoing pain in your joints
• Signs of allergic reaction:
• Signs of heart failure

You should not take Glyxambi if you are allergic to Empagliflozin/Linagliptin or if you have severe kidney disease (and are on dialysis), a history of severe allergic reaction or skin reaction after taking linagliptin, or are in diabetic ketoacidosis. Before you start taking Glyxambi, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you currently take including OTC and herbal medications.

Taking Glyxambi while pregnant or nursing is not advised. Talk to your doctor about the risks.

Precautions

Be sure to take Glyxambi exactly as your doctor describes for you. Follow all instructions that come with your medication.

Glyxambi is typically taken first thing in the morning, with or without food.

Store it at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

You will likely need to have your blood sugar tested often, as empagliflozin can cause life-threatening ketoacidosis (too much acid in the blood). Low blood sugar is another thing to watch for, as it can happen to everyone who has diabetes.

An overdose of Glyxambi can be fatal. Watch for symptoms of overdose, which include: extreme weakness, confusion, tremors, sweating, fast heart rate, trouble speaking, nausea, vomiting, rapid breathing, fainting, and seizures.

There can be interactions between Glyxambi and other medications. These include: insulin or other oral diabetes medications, rifampin, or diuretics. Talk to your doctor before you use other medications while on Glyxambi.

To ensure this medication is right for you, be sure to tell your doctor if any of the following conditions apply to you:

• A bladder infection or urination problems
• A pancreas disorder
• Alcoholism
• Gallstones
• Genital infection
• Heart failure
• Liver or kidney disease
• Low blood pressure
• If you’re on a low-salt diet
• If you’re 65 years or older

Questions and Answers

1. I am on dialysis. Can I still take Glyxambi?
Answer: No. If you are on dialysis, have severe kidney disease, or diabetic ketoacidosis, you should not use this medication. It can increase the acid in your blood to dangerous levels.

2. Can I adjust my dosage of Glyxambi on my own if I feel I don’t need as much?
Answer: While blood sugar levels can rise and fall with stress, illness, alcohol, etc., you should never try to adjust your medication without your doctor’s advice. If you feel your dosage needs to be adjusted, contact them first.

3. I’ve noticed pain, odor, and discharge from my genitals after starting Glyxambi. What should I do?
Answer: In rare instances, taking Glyxambi can cause a serious genital infection, with a quick onset. If you experience burning, itching, odor, pain, tenderness, redness, etc. in the genital or rectal area, contact your doctor immediately.
