Product Details

Glyxambi is a combination medication used to regulate insulin levels for people with diabetes. It contains empagliflozin, which helps the kidneys remove glucose from the bloodstream, and linagliptin, which regulates the amount of insulin the body produces after eating. Glyxambi can also be used to lower the risk of death from heart attack, stroke, or heart failure with patients who have both type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Precautions

You will likely need to have your blood sugar tested often, as empagliflozin can cause life-threatening ketoacidosis (too much acid in the blood). Low blood sugar is another thing to watch for, as it can happen to everyone who has diabetes.

An overdose of Glyxambi can be fatal. Watch for symptoms of overdose, which include: extreme weakness, confusion, tremors, sweating, fast heart rate, trouble speaking, nausea, vomiting, rapid breathing, fainting, and seizures.

There can be interactions between Glyxambi and other medications. These include: insulin or other oral diabetes medications, rifampin, or diuretics. Talk to your doctor before you use other medications while on Glyxambi.
