Uses

Prevacid is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that is used you treat acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and ulcers. 

Dosage

The tablets are available in several different strengths:

• 15 mg
• 30 mg

Side Effects

The most common side effects of Prevacid include:

• Diarrhea
• Abdominal pain
• Nausea
• Constipation

Precautions

Prevacid like other PPIs can increase a patient's risk of developing an infection called C. difficile. 

There is a risk that taking Prevacid can increase the chance of developing osteoporosis.
