Dosage

The brand Heptovir and its generic Lamivudine are available in the strength of 100 mg tablets only.

Usage

Heptovir (Lamivudine) is a prescription medicine for chronic hepatitis B infection and evidence of hepatitis B virus replication (reproduction). It would be best to know that Heptovir is not a cure for hepatitis B and does not prevent the passing of hepatitis B to others. The active substance in Heptovir is Lamivudine. Lamivudine belongs to the class of medication called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI). It works by slowing the growth of the virus, thereby decreasing liver damage caused by the virus.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Heptovir are nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhea, and unusual tiredness.

Stop using Heptovir and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Loss of appetites;
• Symptoms of worsening liver function such as nausea and vomiting that doesn't stop, yellowness of the eyes, or passage of dark-colored urine;
• Severe stomach and abdominal pain;
