Product Details

Accupril (Quinapril) is a prescription medication that is used to treat high blood pressure. Quinapril belongs to a class of drugs known as ACE inhibitors. This medication works by relaxing blood vessels so the blood can flow more easily. Quinapril may be used in addition to diurectics (water pills) known as thiazide diuretics such as Hydrochlorothiazide when one medication has not been found to control blood pressure satisfactorily.

The common side effects may include dizziness, dry cough, lightheadedness, nausea and vomiting. The serious side effects may include:
• Dark urine;
• Fainting;
• Loss of appetite;
• Nausea or vomiting;
• Slow or irregular heartbeat;
• Symptoms of a high potassium blood level;
• Symptoms of liver damage;
• Yellowing eyes or skin

You should not take Accupril if you are allergic to Quinapril or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you dizzy. You should not drive or do any activity that requires you to be alert. Limit alcoholic beverages. Accupril should not be used during pregnancy. It may harm an unborn baby. This medication passes into breast milk. Seniors have an increased risk of experiencing side effects when taking Quinapril. They may have to take lower doses. There may be an interaction between Accupril and other medications such as alfuzosin, aliskiren, allopurinol, amiodarone, azathioprine, brimonidine, cyclosporine, levodopa, pramipexole, quinine, sirolimus, tamsulosin, tretinoin, etc.
