Combivent is a metered-dose inhaler containing a combination of albuterol and ipratropium. Albuterol and ipratropium are bronchodilators that relax muscles in the airways and increase air flow to the lungs. This medication is used as an inhaled medication to prevent bronchospasm in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) who are also using other medicines to control their condition.

Manufacturer Information

We currently have the brand from Turkey by Boehringer Ingelheim and the generic Combimist from India by German Remedies. Sometimes we stock generic Salbutamol (as sulphate) 100 mcg Ipratropium bromide 20 mcg CFC free come from Rex medical made in New Zealand, it also called Duolin hfa inhaler. It may come from other generic manufacturers. Brand Combivent inhalation aerosol is available in 20 mcg/120 mcg/200 dose, and the generic Albuterol Ipratropium is available in 20 mcg/100 mcg/200 dose.

Stop using Combivent and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

• Chest pain, pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest;
• Dangerously high blood pressure;
• Low potassium (confusion, extreme thirst, increased urination, leg discomfort, muscle weakness);
• Pain in the eye, or seeing halos around lights;
• Painful or difficult urination;
• Swelling of your ankles or feet;
• Wheezing, choking, or other breathing problems

Other common Combivent side effects may include:
• Cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, cough, or sore throat;
• Mild headache

You should not use Combivent if you are allergic to Albuterol (Proventil, Ventolin), Ipratropium (Atrovent), or Atropine (Atreza, Lomotil, Vi-Atro, Sal-Tropine). Do not use Combivent if you are allergic to soybeans, peanuts, or other food products that contain soya lecithin. Combivent can increase the risk of asthma related deaths, so caution should be taken to only use the prescribed dosage. It is not known whether albuterol and ipratropium passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while you are using Combivent. You should also inform your doctor if you have any pre existing medical conditions including heart disease, seizure disorders including epilepsy, diabetes, thyroid disorders, high blood pressure, prostate conditions, glaucoma and liver or kidney diseases.
