We carry Aygestin in one dosage which is 5mg, and it is manufactured by Erfa Canada. The medication is dispensed in packs of 100 tablet's starting at $220.00 USD, and you  up to a 3 month supply at one time.

Once you place an order, we can send a request to your doctor for a copy of your prescription. It will be sent by fax , and we  will allow 2 business days for them to respond but if we have not received a reply in that time frame,  we will inform you to follow up. Prescriptions can also be faxed to 1-855-776-0006, emailed to [email protected] or uploaded on our website.

What is Aygestin used for?

Aygestin is a type of progesterone that is prescribed to regulate menstruation and ovulation. There are a number of other conditions it can help with, but all are related to periods and pregnancy.

It can also be used as a form of contraception to make sure you don’t get pregnant, and also be prescribed if you have a hormone imbalance that leads to vaginal bleeding.  Endometriosis is another condition Aygestin is used to treat.

As different brands are used to treat different issues, it is important that you only use the type that has been prescribed for your condition.

How is Aygestin dosage taken?

To use this medication for birth control purposes , take 1 tablet once a day and at the same time each day. If there is more than 24 hours between administrations, the pills will be less effective and you could become pregnant. In the event that you get an upset stomach, it may be best to use a back up method of birth control as the pill may come out of your system via vomiting or diarrhea.

If you are taking Aygestin for vaginal bleeding, you will be prescribed the pills for up to 10 days. You may have bleeding for up to a week after the last dose. When it is used for endometriosis, you will need to take it for a number of months with the possibility of the dose being altered during that time. Make sure you check for lumps regularly and tell your doctor about vaginal bleeding that seems abnormal.

What are the Side Effects of Aygestin?

You may not suffer from side effects, but it helps to know what to look out for. Some will be severe enough to require medical emergency attention, others will require the doctor to be told and with the final group they will just stop on their own or when medication is not used anymore. Emergency attention is needed when:

  • There is a severe reaction such as hives
  • You have problems breathing
  • Your lips, tongue or face swells

There is no need for emergency attention for the following, but you must contact a health care provider if:

  • You have headaches or vision issues
  • Sudden weight gain
  • Missed periods or additional bleeding
  • Pain in the pelvis – especially if it is just on one side of the body
  • Increased thirst
  • Additional urination
  • Jaundice
  • Signs of a blood clot
  • Sudden swellings

What are the Precautions of taking Aygestin?

Before starting to take Aygestin, you should speak to your doctor and let them know about your general health and medication that you are already taking. They should know if you are allergic to it or if you have ever had:

  • Vaginal bleeding that they are not aware of
  • Liver disease including cancer
  • Breast cancer
  • Blood clots – especially ones that have been in the brain, lungs or legs.
  • Depression
  • Migraines
  • High blood pressure
  • Heart issues

It is not suitable if you are pregnant or intend to get pregnant. If you are taking it and find you are pregnant, then immediately stop taking it and speak to the doctor. The same applies to breast feeding.
